YES Network Pakistan is spearheading a Youth-led Changemaking movement in educational institutions to transform them into changemaker campuses. Each year, YES Network Pakistan facilitates several hundred students to begin their changemaking journey.
YES Network Pakistan has joined hands with Punjab Higher Education Commission to launch the first-ever intra and inter-level changemaking competition to present a changemaking opportunity to every student to experience the thrill of being a changemaker. We firmly believe that every student is born with changemaking power and it requires one experience or opportunity to discover it.
We believe it is a great opportunity for students to transform themselves from consumers to producers. The central challenge of our time is to activate students as changemakers. When students are activated as changemakers, society is likely to find solutions needed to tackle social, economic and environmental challenges. Cultivating ownership of society is the hallmark of the changemaking competition.
There are two phases of the changemaking competition, intra and inter. During the first phase, an intra-level changemaking competition will be carried out in the short-listed colleges. The intra-level competition involves competing against others within the college. It will be open to all students. There is no requirement. All enrolled students are eligible to participate in it. Students need to form a team of 3 to 5 members to participate in the competition. Each team will receive Rs. 2,000 to produce a valuable product or service for society. The duration of the intra-competition will be 2 weeks. Teams will be judged against their ability to create social (number of people served) and economic (profit earned) impact. Further details will be shared in due course.
In the second phase, the inter-level changemaking competition will be conducted. It involves competing against other educational institutions. The winning team from each college will participate in it. Each team will receive Rs. 5,000 to participate at this level. The duration of the inter-level competition will be 4 weeks. The winning team will get prize money of Rs. 50,000 along with the trophy. The runners-up will be awarded Rs. 25,000.
All the participating teams will be awarded certificates. An award ceremony will take place at the end of the competition to showcase and reward the contributions of faculty members and students. The changemaking projects of the students will be documented and shared with a wide range of local and global audiences. To participate in the changemaking competition, kindly nominate a focal person (for coordination) and send your request at yesnetworkpakistan@gmail.com before 30th Sep 2022.
We look forward to receiving your nominations.
